Shotl at the FIA Start-up Challenge in Vienna

As one of the 5 shortlisted new-mobility start-ups, Shotl were in Vienna to present a new transport concept to an audience that included notable representatives from the largest Automotive Club in Europe. The concept focused on improving transportation for suburban families.

Residents in both suburban and rural areas are highly dependent on the use of privately owned vehicles as they have limited access to public transport yet still need to drive long distances to access amenities. In the case of families with children and elderly relatives, who are unable to drive, the onus of transportation often falls heavily onto the shoulders of a sole family member (with private car access).

To solve this problem, Shotl presented a new concept aimed at providing a first mile/last mile solution for short trips within residential areas. Via the use of On-demand shuttles; clubs and associations could offer members a brand new mobility service, i.e. based on a monthly subscription. This service would empower users, helping them to regain flexibility and independence whilst reducing overall travel time. This type of On-demand solution can take responsibility away from overburdened family members and facilitate a sense of freedom and accessibility for all family members, both young and old.

The Vienna event was a great opportunity to connect with decision makers and innovators from the FIA Region I network (Europe, Middle East & Africa), as well as with other innovative mobility start-ups. We are always keen to forge new partnerships with both industry leaders and decision makers alike as it allows for opportunities to emerge; the potential to deploy more innovative forms of mobility that provide a credible solution for the future of transport.

Inspiring mobility

Writing, thinking, imagining, proposing, making mistakes. We constantly add value to our environment through knowledge. We build connections that lead to mental structures and, eventually, to new ideas. We are living in the Knowledge Society.
